Découvrez le AIRCODE SL 600 FDJ Lapierre, à partir de 2999€ !
Initially I rode some smooth roads and it felt really comfortable, I then took it to some local roads that I know are not that great. Kamm Tail tube profiles give all the benefits of a traditional wing-section, yet their squared-off backs create ‘virtual’ trailing … The innovative profile of its Kamm Tail and NACA tubes ensures the attainment of unmatched aerodynamic efficiency. The Aircode SL 600 is the lower spec'd model with mechanical Ultegra , Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels and of course an FDJ colour scheme. If you are looking for a super comfortable butter smooth ride you should be looking at the Lapierre Pulsium or Specialized Roubaix, which I have been told first hand by owners are fantastic. It's only early days, however for the price and spec its hard to walk past this bike without being impressed. Boasting pro-race geometry, advanced aerodynamics and a truly power-hungry lateral stiffness, the Aircode SL is perfectly in balance.
Zipp (bars, stem, seat post) and Shimano Di2 components litter the frame and lead to a package that works as it should, smooth and comfortable. The Mavic WTS (Wheel Tyre System) with the Mavic Yksion Pro Griplink/Powerlink 700x25c work as they should and are stable on wet roads.
The many months of development and numerous test sessions seemed to have paid off, and resulted in a race ready aero machine.

The rear was the biggest surprise in that it is very compliant over bumpy terrain but not back jarringly stiff. (Note the Di2 junction box mount that is included is a great feature as it uses a spacer just below the stem saving it having to be mounted to the stem itself.) 2017 Lapierre Aircode SL 600 FDJ MCP. (Not to mention mounting a rear light) Now to the most important part, how does it ride?
The 2017 Lapierre Aircode SL 700 Ultimate has just arrived and I am impressed! For 2016 the Aircode has been reworked and improved to be even lighter.
It’s the finest blend of aero, structural stiffness and low weight for racing and sprinting.
Where other manufacturers give you a set of wheels that are training wheels at best, Lapierre include 45 mm Mavic Carbon wheels worth a good amount of money. Ride faster, harder, stronger! ... and the Aircode SL 600 FDJ MC at €2,999.

For 2017 Lapierre bought two Aircode models into Australia, the Aircode SL 600 FDJ and the Aircode SL 700 Ultimate.
Coming from a MTB background I don't see the need for discs on a road bike, but each to his own.
Not so! The Aircode had a great first year, taking Thibaut Pinot to third place in the 2014 Tour de France. It’s the finest blend of aero, structural stiffness and low weight for racing and sprinting.
After riding the sportive/endurance 2014 Lapierre Sensium 500 Di2 for the past 2 years I thought I was going to be in for a rough/non-compliant shock. The Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Exalith WTS wheels give the bike a killer look and at around $2,000 (when sold separately) are a huge bonus on a bike with a RRP of under $7,000. On all but the harshest bumps the only difference I could notice was the front was slightly harder to hang onto (most probably due to the carbon bars and beefier head tube), although this is more than made up for when powering up a climb out of the saddle with your weight over the front.
Handy if you want to take this bike hill climbing and put a 11-32T cassette on. However, the Lapierre engineers still felt some improvements could be made, and did not rest up!

The Aircode SL 700 Ultimate sports the following componentry on the 55 cm model: The front sports an Ultegra 52x36 crankset which is a good match for this bike (and the speeds you should be doing) although still enables you to get up most hills without issue. The frame itself cuts some really nice angles and has some aero styling, although the seat post is a standard round 31.6 mm which gives you decent upgrade options.
Lapierre have just released the 2016 version of their aero-styled road frame, the Aircode and before it even had a chance to hit the shops our man in France, Chris has been out testing a 2016 Aircode SL700 this past month. Rims are a decent 45 mm deep with bladed spokes and you can definitely feel them cutting through the air.
